Photo tour news

Hello Photo Travelers.

In this edition of snippets we have news of two new photography tours, new photo galleries, and galleries that have recently been updated, plus . . .

  New:  '2 in 12' discounts
  Added:  More meals included
  Update:  Red Rock Country winter
It's back:  Skagit Valley Tulip Festival
Color codingIs the trip a go or no? This will help.

Scroll on down and you'll find the details under 'News' below.

We hope you'll allow us the opportunity to help you become a better photographer this year, while enjoying some fabulous travel experiences at the same time!

John and Laurie

Yellowstone and Tetons in winter photography tour

YELLOWSTONE AND TETONS WINTER: Mid to late February 2012
Travel Images' annual winter sojourn into Yellowstone and Teton national parks will once again be filled with wildlife opportunities, and refreshing landscapes. Throw in the thermal areas, macro photography, and a snow coach trip into Yellowstone's Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone etcetera, and we have a memorable winter photography experience waiting for you.

Introduction of the '2 in 12' discount:  On January 1st we replaced the back-to-back photography tour discount with a more flexible '2 in 12' discount, i.e. a price break for taking any two trips in a twelve month period. All other discounts remain the same, and full details regarding all discounts are here.  There is also a breakdown of the benefits under 'Take any two trip'.

Additional inclusions:  We include all breakfasts on our trips, and have now added the first day orientation lunch, and last night dinner. Trips such as the Galapagos Islands and the Polar Bears of Manitoba are almost entirely inclusive of meals.

Red Rock Country winter:  The trip has 4 new enrollments, and 4 places are still available. See the brochure here.

Color coding a trip status:  For some six years now we've posted how many enrollments we have thus far, but you want to know if it is enough to run the trip. To help with clarification we have introduced a colored check mark system on each online brochure page, i.e. . . .

Indicates that we have sufficient enrollments and will run the trip
Indicates that the trip will run pending one or more enrollments

Sometimes we can run a trip with as few as 2, so look for that green check mark. Of course, the earlier you enroll the more likely your trip will run.

Because of a crowded tour calendar some trips have to go on the back-burner for a year or two. Of those Skagit Valley Tulip Festival has returned with April of 2012 dates, and you can get all the details you need here.

RED ROCK COUNTRY WINTER: February/March, 2012
This trip directly follows the Yellowstone and Teton national park photo tour, and consequently there is free transport available between locations.

The Red Rock Country winter itinerary is similar to our October offering except that we include Bryce and Zion, and omit Canyon de Chelly.

TAKE ANY TWO TRIPS IN A 12 MONTH PERIOD:  The benefits
We introduced '2 in 12' at the start of the year, i.e. any two trips, not necessarily back-to-back, at any time in a 12 month period.
Combined with our other discounts that are explained here, this is what your typical savings would be.
Yellowstone + Tetons winter and Red Rock Country winter
       Solo traveler: $600  |  Couples/room sharers: $760 per person
  Scotland and the European Alps
       Solo traveler: $600  |  Couples/room sharers: $1,094 per person

You can also claim up to a $200 per trip discount if you were to enroll as much as 12 months prior to any of our photo tours.
Full details and additional discounts are explained here

CALIFORNIA'S CENTRAL COAST: April 2012
The trip starts and finishes in San Francisco, then going north there is Bodega Bay, a trio of lighthouses, Mendocino botanical garden, State parks, a Whale watching option, Redwoods, wildflowers and more.
To the south we'll take in the highlights of the Cabrillo highway, Pigeon Point lighthouse, colorful ice plants, Santa Cruz, Monterey, the Big Sur, the Carmel mission, Point Lobos State Reserve, plus marine life and birds such as Pelican and Cormorant.
The best San Francisco highlights are also included.
  The trip brochure is here.
Images you can expect to shoot are here.

FEATURED PHOTOGRAPHY TOUR:  SCOTLAND, June 2012
Yes, the bonnie Scotland. I may have already related the story that when I lived in England, then Wales, my favorite spot for holidays was Scotland.
As a consequence I have a quite varied photography itinerary to capture all imaginations, including the one that might just get some feeding on the shores of Loch Ness!
The 2012 Scotland brochure is here
The Scotland photo gallery can be viewed here

A number Travel Images galleries have been updated of late, and those include . . . Wales, The Palouse, European Alps, Patagonia, Scotland, Vermont and Bryce and Zion.

NEW:  POLAR BEARS OF CHURCHILL, MANITOBA: November 2012
This photo tour is a new addition and is almost full as only two places are available at the time writing.
Besides the Polar Bears, we anticipate some great northern light displays to photograph.
Air from Winnipeg to Churchill and back is included, as are most of the meals.
The trip dates are November 9th to November 14th, and all of the trip details are here.

Travel Images has one of the most comprehensive questions and answer pages in the industry here.
However, if you still need an answer it's more than OK with us that you put your question in an email.

NEW PHOTO GALLERIES

The newest galleries added recently are . . .
  Burgundy, France
  California's Central Coast
  Still Life on the Run
The latter is not a location as such but a photography subject worthy of some consideration. Take a look and broaden your photographic perspectives!

The photography gallery index is here.

BURGUNDY, FRANCE
Burgundy is not just wine, but a host of photo opportunities!  You'll have to wait until 2013 to take this trip, but the wait will be worthwhile.
  The online brochure is here.
The Burgundy photo gallery is here.

GIFT CERTIFICATES
The gift of photo travel can be given at any time of the year, so if photo travel is something they enjoy, then do consider a Travel Images gift certificate.
You can purchase gift certificates in any denomination you wish, and of course there is no expiry date.
They are eligible for use on any Travel Images photography tour or workshop. A sample gift certificate and all the details are here.

PHOTOGRAPHY TOUR CALENDAR FOR 2012 AND 2013
Click on the image at left or here to go to the Travel Images photography calendar.
As always there is plenty of variety throughout the year, with photo tours of varying lengths and locations.  Basically the regions we cover are North and South America, Europe, and parts of Australasia.
You can also ensure your trip of choice is included in a future calendar by going here.
Travel Images also offers a custom photo tour service. See By Request.

There are apparently a number of folk on the Travel Images mailing list who monitor their preferred trip, but who have also never been in touch to share their preferences with us. Consequently when the trip is moved or is suddenly full - or even cancelled - we hear from them, but by then it is too late perhaps. So, if you are keeping an eye on a particular trip please let us know, and we'll inform you when deadlines are coming up.
Previous clients can email us their intentions, and 'newbies' can get a trip going in the right direction by placing a fully refundable deposit on their preferred trip. By doing so we are alerted to the fact that the trip is important to you, and we'll then do our utmost to make that trip a 'go'.
  and finally . . .

DON'T LET AN ADDITIONAL DISCOUNT PASS YOU BY
The deadlines for claiming an early enrollment discount for our photo tours to England, Ireland, Wales, Scotland, and the European Alps are fast approaching.
Of course, the earlier you enroll the larger the discount . . . up to $200. The details of our early enrollment discounts can be found here.
